Job Title: Senior Electrical Estimator
Location: Houston, TX
Industry: Commercial Electrical Construction
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to lead and manage the estimating process for commercial electrical construction projects. This role is critical to preconstruction success, bid strategy, and cost analysis. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in the Houston commercial construction market and can independently manage complex estimates from initial takeoff through final proposal submission.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed and accurate electrical cost estimates for commercial projects
• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing strategies
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
• Participate in bid strategy and scope review meetings
• Ensure proposals are competitive, complete, and accurate
• Support negotiated and design-build opportunities
• Assist with budgeting and conceptual estimating
• Mentor and support junior estimators (as applicable)

Technical Expertise Requirements
Lighting Controls
• Familiarity with leading systems such as Lutron, nLight, and Wattstopper
• Strong understanding of occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting, and control panel integration
• Knowledge of low-voltage vs. line-voltage control systems
Medium Voltage (MV) Experience – Major Differentiator
• Experience with utility coordination, including CenterPoint Energy
• Knowledge of primary service systems (5kV–35kV typical)
• Working knowledge of switchgear, transformers, and cable terminations
• Understanding of conduit systems (PVC vs. rigid steel) and duct bank design
Busway / Bus Duct Systems
• Experience with systems commonly used in high-rise, data center, healthcare, and industrial projects
• Understanding of bus duct vs. traditional cable feeder systems
• Knowledge of plug-in vs. feeder busway configurations
• Awareness of installation methods and associated complexities
Qualifications
• 7+ years of electrical estimating experience (commercial required)
• Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems
• Experience with both hard bids and negotiated work
• Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid, ConEst, or similar)
• Strong understanding of Houston construction market pricing
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
