Job Description

A school-based position is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support students with visual impairments. This in-person role is based in Redwood City, CA, and operates under a contract for the 2025-2026 school year. This opportunity requires a commitment of 20+ hours per week.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction in orientation and mobility techniques to students with visual impairments
• Assess students' mobility skills and develop personalized training plans
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and other professionals to promote students' independence and safety
• Conduct evaluations and maintain detailed records of student progress
• Participate in team meetings and professional development activities

Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Experience working with school-aged children who have visual impairments
• Strong knowledge of orientation and mobility best practices and adaptive techniques
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work in person consistently during the school year
