Position Overview:
The Vice President of Finance is the senior finance leader responsible for financial strategy, planning, reporting, controls, and decision support across the business. This role partners closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive profitable growth, improve working capital and cash conversion, strengthen forecasting discipline, and ensure audit-ready processes and scalable infrastructure. The VP, Finance will also serve as a key interface with the Board and private equity sponsor, providing clear, timely, and actionable insights.
Core Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Strategy:
Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team on growth initiatives, margin improvement, pricing, capital allocation, and value creation.
Translate corporate objectives into measurable financial plans, KPIs, and accountability rhythms.
Lead monthly/quarterly business reviews (MBR/QBR) with actionable insights and follow-through.
FP&A, Budgeting, Forecasting:
Own annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning (3-year plan), including scenario modeling ("base vs. investment," growth cases, productivity cases).
Build and maintain strong forecasting of revenue, gross margin (mix, yield, scrap, labor efficiency), OPEX, and EBITDA.
Establish and enforce planning cadence, standard templates, and driver-based models aligned to operations and sales.
Reporting, Metrics & Board Support:
Deliver accurate, timely management reporting: P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, KPI dashboards, and variance narratives.
Prepare Board and sponsor reporting packages; support CEO in crafting financial storylines for Board meetings.
Improve data clarity by defining metric ownership, standard definitions, and a single source of truth.
Accounting Oversight & Controls:
Oversee accounting close process; ensure GAAP compliance, strong reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation.
Strengthen internal controls, approval authorities, and segregation of duties; maintain policies and SOPs for finance operations.
Manage external audit, tax, and banking relationships (and any PE reporting requirements).
Cash, Working Capital & Treasury:
Lead cash forecasting and treasury management; optimize liquidity and reduce volatility.
Drive working capital improvements across AR collections, AP terms, inventory turns and purchasing discipline.
Partner with Supply Chain/Operations on inventory strategy, obsolescence controls, and demand planning inputs.
Pricing, Profitability & Commercial Finance:
Partner with Sales & Marketing on pricing strategy, deal governance, margin thresholds, and contract economics.
Implement profitability reporting by customer, product, channel, and program (including custom kits / services as applicable).
Establish deal review processes and post-mortem analysis to improve win rate and margin outcomes.
Operational Finance & Systems:
Partner with Operations to implement standard costing discipline, variance analysis, and plant performance dashboards.
Improve finance systems and automation (ERP, BI/reporting, expense tools), balancing speed with controls.
Lead finance team development: hiring, coaching, performance management, and building a high-accountability culture.
M&A / Integration Support (as applicable):
Support acquisition evaluation, diligence, modeling, and integration planning/execution.
Ensure post-acquisition reporting integration, synergy tracking, and controls standardization.
Required Qualifications:
12+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership in manufacturing, distribution, or healthcare/medtech supply environments.
Proven ownership of FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and executive-level reporting.
Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and operational finance drivers.
Experience working with PE-backed businesses and Board reporting cadence strongly preferred.
Track record of improving cash conversion cycle and implementing disciplined financial operating rhythms.
Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting required; MBA and/or CPA/CMA preferred.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
CLM implementation experience (tool selection, workflow design, reporting).
Experience with ERP environments (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and pricing master data governance.
Familiarity with relevant healthcare contracting concepts (GPO admin fees, chargebacks, compliance documentation) and basic regulatory considerations where applicable.
