Job Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.
This position involves working hours from 1300 to 0100 and requires an active Registered Nurse license with a minimum of one year of clinical experience. The nurse must have successfully completed the SANE/SAFE Project’s Comprehensive Sexual Assault Examiner Program, including the associated clinical skills lab, or an equivalent training program; prior forensic nurse examiner clinical experience is preferred. Key responsibilities include providing compassionate, trauma‑informed care to patients, conducting comprehensive medical forensic examinations with thorough injury assessment, evidence collection, and precise documentation, and ensuring proper handling and maintenance of evidence with strict adherence to chain‑of‑custody requirements. The role also involves close collaboration with law enforcement, victim advocacy organizations, child and adult protection services, and legal professionals, as well as providing court testimony when required.
