To reduce carbon emissions while expanding our fleet vehicle variance out of our last mile operations while increasing the vehicle, we're seeking an exceptional Program Manager for our Japan Amazon Fleet Team. In this role, you will be responsible to conceptualize innovative and disruptive solutions while working closely with operations, tech, finance, and deployment teams to implement customer experience improvements, sustainability initiatives, and cost‑saving measures. As Fleet Program Manager you are responsible for the safety, compliance, availability, and cost of the Fleet in Japan, leveraging our Fleet Management and leasing companies as well as vendors, suppliers and manufacturers in the best way and setting up a long‑term vision strategy with them and our Japan business. We are making significant long‑term investments in building our Fulfillment and Transportation infrastructure in Japan and scaling our last‑mile delivery capacity. As Program Manager, you will drive national expansion of strategic on‑road programs and work with multiple teams within Supply Chain and Retail functions to deliver a World‑Class Customer Experience while working on long‑term Net‑Zero Carbon Initiatives. You will lead fleet projects for Amazon Logistics Last Mile Delivery, partnering with tech, BI, Operations, Program, and analytics teams to create a robust, sustainable and long‑term carbon‑free infrastructure. That involves conceptualizing, planning, executing, tracking, evaluating and presenting pilot results for different modes of transportation that will be potential enablers for all of our business lines in Japan. The role offers extensive collaboration opportunities with internal teams including Delivery Station Operations, Sort Centers and Fulfillment Centers, Delivery Service Provider programs, Tech teams, World‑Wide Tech and Fleet teams, and external partners such as OEM manufacturers and leasing companies. You will be responsible for driving programs, partnerships, innovations, and features while creating last‑mile service and delivery process improvements and launching new market opportunities. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with a background in product and/or program management, operations, and cross‑functional leadership for large‑scale strategic initiatives. You should possess strong analytical and business acumen, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence without authority. Success in this role requires proficiency in managing complex logistics challenges, analyzing data, driving process improvements, and creating scalable solutions leveraging technology. Technical background will be of advantage. You must be able to work independently in a high‑speed environment, exercise sound judgment where clear guidelines may not exist, and demonstrate a bias for action and results. Support to develop and manage a vehicle catalog that supports various modes of transport and delivery channels, ensuring appropriate vehicle options are available for both short‑term and long‑term operational needs. Establish and execute a parking strategy that accommodates diverse delivery channels and transportation modes, optimizing resource allocation while balancing cost, compliance, and operational efficiency. Lead cross‑functional initiatives to transition our fleet toward emission‑free vehicles, partnering with internal teams and external stakeholders to pilot sustainable solutions and build supporting infrastructure. Manage resources and risks across complex cross‑functional programs, ensuring efficient allocation and proactive risk mitigation strategies. Enhance customer and partner experience by translating needs into actionable programs while identifying cost‑saving opportunities and maintaining service quality. Design and manage reporting mechanisms to track program progress, forecast future needs, and optimize fleet and parking initiatives while clearly communicating impacting programs and project results to leadership. Design and conduct pilot projects to test vehicles, identify scalable solutions, and drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency. A day in the life Your days will be dynamic and self‑directed as you create solutions for our partners and drivers transitioning to a larger, more sustainable vehicle pool. While you will manage regular metrics reporting and fixed mechanisms, most of your time will involve defining your own priorities - from negotiating with OEMs and manufacturers to designing new operational setups. You might spend one morning analyzing fleet performance data, followed by collaborating with internal teams on roadmap planning in the afternoon. Another day might involve visiting potential parking locations or testing new vehicle types with delivery partners. Each day presents unique opportunities to innovate for our growing business while long‑term you work toward Amazon's climate pledge goals. About the team We are the Japan Amazon Fleet (and Parking) team working towards a safe, regulated fleet for our business, secure parking potential for our partners, and long‑term progress toward Amazon's Climate Pledge Goal to be net zero carbon by 2040. Our team of 10 members is driving pioneer work on new business models for last‑mile operations in Japan, identifying the optimal modes of transport in terms of safety, cost, capacity, delivery speed, and sustainability.
