Job Description

A school in Fremont, CA is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) for the 25/26 school year. This contract position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic educational environment, providing specialized services to students with visual impairments. The role requires in-person presence and commitment to 20+ hours per week, supporting students' independence and mobility skills.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and develop orientation and mobility plans tailored to individual student needs
  • Instruct students on techniques to navigate various environments safely and confidently
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff to integrate mobility strategies into daily activities
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans to optimize student outcomes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with school policies
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Certification or licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
