About the Role:

The Cook Culinary Intern/Extern position offers an immersive opportunity to develop foundational culinary skills within a professional kitchen environment. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations under the guidance of experienced chefs. The intern/extern will contribute to the creation of high-quality dishes while learning about kitchen safety, sanitation, and efficient workflow management. Through this role, candidates will gain practical knowledge that supports their culinary education and prepares them for future roles in the food service industry. Ultimately, the position aims to bridge academic learning with real-world culinary practice, fostering growth and skill development in a dynamic setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a culinary arts program or related field.
  • Basic understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interest in developing culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment, even in a volunteer or part-time capacity.
  • Familiarity with common kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and culinary terminology.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude toward learning.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items according to established recipes and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workstations and equipment.
  • Support the kitchen team by performing basic food prep tasks such as chopping, measuring, and assembling ingredients.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Observe and learn from senior kitchen staff to improve culinary techniques and knowledge.

The required skills such as basic food preparation, adherence to safety standards, and teamwork are essential for daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth service delivery.
